Attempt to pass a tanker may have led to the deadly chemical crash in Illinois, official says SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The tanker truck crash in central Illinois that killed five people may have started when another vehicle tried to pass the chemical-laden truck, a federal transportation official said Sunday.The tanker truck was carrying caustic anhydrous ammonia when it jackknifed Friday night, and hit a utility trailer parked just off the highway, according to Tom Chapman, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board. Tropical Storm Philippe a threat for flash floods overnight in Leeward Islands, forecasters say MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Philippe is threatening to unleash heavy rains and flash flooding in the Leeward Islands starting overnight before eventually recurving out into the central Atlantic where it could gain hurricane status around midweek, forecasters said Sunday.The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said at 5 p.m. Sunday that Philippe was about 160 miles (255 kilometers) east of Guadeloupe or about 205 miles (325 kilometers) east-southeast of Barbuda. Top sustained winds were at 50 mph (85 kph) and Philippe was moving west-northwest at 7 mph (11 kph). A tropical storm watch was in effect for Antigua and Barbuda. 2 dead after boat runs aground along Fox River in McHenry MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. — An investigation is underway on Saturday night after a boat crash on the Fox River in McHenry left two people dead, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).According to Sgt. Farmington man dies in crash in rural Missouri MADISON COUNTY, Mo. - A Farmington man died late Saturday evening in a crash on Highway H, north of Fredericktown.According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 10 p.m.Darrin McIntyre was driving a 2020 RZR XP4 off-road vehicle eastbound on Highway H. McIntyre struck an animal that was on the roadway, veered off the highway, and slammed into a tree.McIntyre died in the crash.
